Affordable Fashion - Charity Haul

'Being fashionable comes at a price', this is a statement I often hear thrown around the school common room, or amongst many of my friends. Although this of course can be true, as even highstreet fashion shops such as Topshop, River Island, H&M etc are still very pricey. However you can still be fashionable on a small budget, I'm very lucky that where I live there are around 10 charity shops which I honestly find more exciting than going to Leeds shopping in Trinity. Of course its nice to buy expensive things every now and then, but who doesn't love a good bargain? Yesterday I went to my local charity shops and ended up buying numerous items for insane bargains - and when I saw bargains, I mean bargains.

The first thing I picked up was this beautiful blouse, in which my mum informed me is made by a designer brand 'Eastex' which is for older women (i.e women in their 60s). However, I thought it was beautiful, and the material is still in perfect condition. The shirt is almost sailor like which I like as it is another one of my favourite fashion trends. I got this for £3 which is amazing for a long sleeved blouse as you'd pay at least £30 for this in Topshop//Zara.

The second thing I bought was this pretty little structured vest top, for just £1! Amazing value for such a pretty vest top, this is particularly for summer however can be worn now with a cute little cardigan or blazer - perfect.

(I apologise for the quality of these photos) So I think this is my biggest bargain yet, Topshops Baxter Skinny Jeans..for £4?!?! They are the perfect fit (W25 & L30) and I adore the colour. I wouldn't have bought these from Topshop in this colour for £40 as I see buying Topshop jeans as a stationary item and would get them in a more plain colour, but at £4 I couldn't go wrong.

As you all may know, I'm a huge fan of tartan and especially when it's printed on a skirt. I got this for £1.50 - amazing. It is exactly the same material and structure as the one I recently purchased for £15 in H&M; however I won't lie this was from the kids section in one of the charity shops and is size 'age 11 years'.. well perks of being small.

This was another cute purchase at a bargain, just £3 for a piece of Zara knitwear. The material is thick and not flimsy at all, it's the perfect fit and I've been looking for a cute white jumper for a long time, and the fact it's from Zara makes me even happier.

I love this, this was also £3 (originally from M&S - not sure of the prices for a jumper there), these pastel colours are really in this year and this is just a nice lose fitted jumper which can go with jeans, or a pleated skirt with a nice classy spring coat..aah I love it.

I got this cute pinafore for £1, which is amazing because I've been wanting one similar from for ages which costs £20. This is originally from Primark although with it being quite expensive now I'd expect to see something like this for around £12-£15. I like this, it's very cute & very 'me'.

The last thing I got was this tartan shirt, this was £3.50 and goes so well with the burgundy Topshop jeans I bought. It's one of those tops you can just throw on and still look fashionable and goes well with anything - dressed up or dressed down.

So, do you believe fashion comes at an expensive price? Leave your comments below, hope this helped some people out, I think everyone should visit their local charity shops V soon

Liebster Award Tag

Excitedly I've been nominated by two lovely bloggers to do the Liebster Award tag; this tag is circulating round the blogging world to get blogs with under 200 followers more noticed. I was nominated by Regina Rose & Imogen Fleur, both who which have amazing blogs:

Each tag has a different set of 11 questions chosen/written by the person who nominates your blog for a Liebster Award! As two bloggers nominated me, I'm going to be cheeky and answer both sets of questions..

Regina's Questions

1.If you were to be an animal what would you be?
It's strange but I would like to be a penguin, they seem to have calm/peaceful stress free lives away from predators

2.What is your favourite shop?
Hm, although cliche, it has to be Topshop - it is always the first website I go to when online shopping

3.If you were granted 3 wishes, what would they be?
1. I would like be to able to travel back in time, not just in my life but into the past as well (I'm a history geek), 2. As 'lovey-dovey' as it sounds, I'd like to stay with my boyfriend for the rest of my life and 3. To get extremely good A-Level grades and a good job with minimal effort

4.What type of music genre do you listen to, and why?
MUSICAL THEATRE, performing is one of my favourite things in the world to do. My iPod is full of musicals, and if anyone was to ask me about pop/rock/chart music etc I wouldn't know a thing. Literally the only music I listen to is musicals.

5.What is the one item you can't live without?
I have a cuddly bunny that I can't sleep without & have had since I was born, its fair to say I am very emotionally attached to her and would definitely not be able to live without her. (Notice how she is a 'her' and not an 'it'...ATTACHED)

6.Who is your favourite blogger?
I'm going to have to say Emma Sheldon from her blog has done so well and I've read it since she first started blogging; also she went to the same secondary school I used to so I see her as a big inspiration.

7.How would you describe your fashion style?
It tends to change, sometimes I will feel the baggy boyfriend look, and sometimes I will wear really fitted stuff. However my stationary items tend to be blazers and tight trousers..I'd say it's quite classy.

8. Favourite alcohol drink?
Rose Wine, I can't drink spirits whatsoever I refuse to ever drink Vodka, Sambuca etc as I cannot understand why anyone would like them.

9.Which celebrity do you admire?
I admire Beyonce for her strong feminine & woman power.

10.What is your favourite trend this season?
I'm still really enjoying the tartan phase, it has definitely been one of my favourite fashion trends.

11. What would be your dream festival or holiday to go to?
My dream holiday would be somewhere romantic, not too hot and a load of sight seeing to do, as well as waterparks!

Imogen Fleur's Questions

2.What colour is always on your nails?

I'm allergic to lanolin, which appears to be in just about everything so I have to be very careful with what I use on my skin. I'd have to say Simple is my favourite brand as it is one of the only ones I can use

8.What is your favourite item in your wardrobe?
It would have to be my light blue pair of Joni Jeans from Topshop as they look good with pretty much everything: must have stationary item

Mini Haul - February 2014

(Contains images which are not my own)

It's only the 1st of February and I've already spent the majority of my you can tell when it gets to allowance day (today) I am eager to hit the shops straight away as I have been emotionally and physically deprived from spending. QUICK DISCLAIMER : My allowance is something I receive of my parents as they don't buy me my clothes, shampoos, toothbrushes etc - this is in aim to teach me the lesson of 'budgeting'...although it has failed. Anyway, although I feel guilty for spending way too much money on just a few things today, I am sticking to my new years resolution which is to 'spend without overthinking things'; so without further ado..

When it comes to MAC, it is my biggest shopping weakness. However saying this my foundation had completely run out and I was making do with No7 ones which didn't supply me with much coverage. As MAC is well known for coverage I headed there to pick up MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation in NW15 and their Studio Fix Plus Foundation in NW25. The girl serving me was absolutely beautiful and very helpful, although it was extremely busy and I did have to wait half an hour for a foundation match.

MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation - £25.00

MAC Studio Fix Plus Foundation - £21.50

This little beauty is a purchase I made regarding my new years shopping resolution, at £14.99 I found this a bargain as it would be double the price in TOPSHOP. This is H&M's 'pleated skirt' in TARTAN, although as I did not photograph this myself (due to my camera breaking and iPhone camera being rather insufficient), I found the photos on H&M's website...this was where I found the skirt was in the SALE for £8.00 and this did not make me happy. Ah well though, pleats are in this fashion season and I need to steer away from the safe choice of joni jeans and a cropped jumper and make my way into the fashion world!

Although I didn't pick these items up on my mini spree today, my ASOS delivery was waiting for me when I came back (creating the illusion in my head I bought more stuff today than I actually had). The black crop top is from ASOS PETITE's range and was only £8.00, although expensive for a crop top of jersey material I can now see why as the material is very good quality which satisfied my expectations. The skirt I bought in the sale for £12.00, and is the 'ASOS Mini Skirt in Crepe with Zip Front'. However sadly I have to return this it is too long for me, I should have known to buy skirts from the petite range too. Although the quality of the skirt is good & I would recommend this to anyone who isn't as small as me.

Hope you enjoyed my mini haul, I am in no way trying to show off at all but I just thought it would be nice as a first haul; thankyou - Katherine x
