Holiday Wish List | Switching things up this summer with Burgundy; Red Velvet Dress, Palm Tree Swimwear & All my Favourite Trends

Clothing wishlist summer 17

I haven't done a wish list in forever, but I'm going on holiday soon and I seriously need to get clothes shopping. I'm loving burgundy right now and these red velvet dresses are everything. I'm also obsessed with palm tree swimwear (as is about everyone on Instagram) but I love how classy it looks and you can most printed pieces for really affordable prices. I've been crushing on so many items online recently but I always just end up adding everything to my bag and never checking out.

I always love a good wish list post because although they're kinda old school in the blogging world, they take me back to when I first started my blog and I love a good throwback so why not?

Let's Discuss...Staying Motivated

Hey everyone! Today I’m going to be sharing the ways in which I stay motivated to be the best version of myself and how I sustain this throughout life on a daily basis. I’ve wanted to write this post for such a long time, but I think because motivation is something I’ve struggled with a lot in the past it just didn’t feel right until now.

Being a student can be really tough on your mental health, I know that the constant change in sleeping pattern, diet and general lifestyle changes had a massive impact on my happiness throughout my first two years of uni.

I would definitely say that the past two months have been a massive change to my lifestyle, finishing university for until September has definitely helped with this. Personally for me the university timetable scheduling for my course in particular makes it tough for me to stay motivated, I find that only have eight hours spread across seven days is too little time spent in education and the rest of the time is spent deciding whether to actually go the library or catch up on sleep. I 100% made bad choices in this through both my first and second year and its something I’ll kick myself for if I do again - however the way I’m living now and what I’m learning from it should hopefully help me not do this again.

Here are my best tips on how to keep motivated and the best life for yourself...

My Skincare Routine with Charlotte Tilbury

My last couple of posts have been all foodie related, so I thought I'd talk about skincare today. I'm pretty rubbish with my 'skincare routine' as usually I'll just use a makeup remover and then moisturise, but it is nice to pamper yourself every now and again. I only have a few high end skincare products as I like a lot of the ones on the high street market and think they work just as well, but when I'm in the mood for a deep cleanse I love to use Charlotte Tilbury skincare products.

A True Foodie Experience | The Grind Cafe

Today I'm discussing yet ANOTHER one of my favourite places to eat in Sheffield (as it seems to be all I do). I visited the Grind Cafe last month with Tom and his mum and the food was insane. I'm pretty disappointed with myself for not visiting already beforehand as I lived in Kelham Island for my first year of uni, but I know exactly what I'm like and I'll always stick to my same favourite restaurants rather than trying anything new unless someone else makes the decision for me (aka Tom's mum - I'm sorry for always being so fussy and I literally have you to thank for taking me here).

Catching Up with a Bestie & Eating out on Ecclesall Road | Mudcrab

If you're a student in Sheffield then you've most likely heard of Ecclesall Road, one of Sheffield's most highly student populated areas. As a second year, securing a house on Ecclesall Road was super exciting - although our student house had a lot of trouble living there and definitely didn't make the most of the area at all because of that.

I've had a lot of time to myself since finishing second year, and more time to explore what actually lays in the heart of Ecclesall Road. I already knew there was pretty much everything when it came to big brands (Starbucks, Costa, Tesco, Nandos, Pizza Express etc.. you name it), however I'd definitely been neglecting the smaller independent restaurants and shops - I've found some pretty good finds and they'll be blog posts to follow.

Sheffield's Best Pancake, Waffle and Coffee House: The Cabin

The Cabin is one of those places which you'll keep passing if you're a student in Sheffield on your way to uni and always say to yourself you need to visit - so do it. Honestly, I'd been saying it for ages everyday on my way to uni and I didn't visit until the end of my second year (what a waste of many potential trips I could have had there). Primarily a waffle and pancake house, The Cabin offers food at a reasonable price which will cure any sweet toothed cravings you've been having. If your preferences tend to be more savoury, like mine, then you can opt for one of the toasted bagels with toppings of your choice - I always opt for scrambled egg as its my all time favourite.

Life Update - Healthier and Happier

Instagram @katherinerosie_

As usual, it's been a while - it really has. So much has changed in my life and I've been so busy that again my blog has taken a back seat. I've found it really hard to have the motivation to blog when if I'm truly honest my interests are completely different to what they were when I first started my blog. My blog was originally beauty focused, which is still something I enjoy - just in a different way. Recently I've made big changes to my lifestyle, and I've never felt happier within myself. I've found myself addicted to YouTuber channels such as Elle Darby and Grace Fit and their videos have made a huge difference in my life. I've started to eat well (for the first time in my life), and actually understand nutrition and fitness so much more through tracking my macros in my diet. I've re-joined at the gym I used to go to in first year, and I've actually been training muscle groups rather than attempting cardio for 30 mins and then thinking it cancels out my large bag of crisps I'd seat and eat afterwards.

Pink Hair with #L'OrealColorista

Heeeey. Today I'm talking all how you can achieve this pink colour for your hair all for just £7.00. If you read my last post you'll know I was left feeling pretty disappointed by Schwarzkopf's 'Live Steel Silver' dye (you can read this here) - but today's post is a whole different vibe because I've actually found a product I am seriously impressed with.

To achieve this look I used L'Oreal's Colourista Washout Pink Hair - I don't know where you've been on social media if you haven't heard of their new range as its been everywhere...

Disappointing Product | Schwarzkopf LIVE Steel Silver

There's nothing more disappointing that envisioning something and it turning out completely different right? Yeah, well that's just happened to me. I've always wanted to try dying my hair silver/grey and when I saw the TV ad for Schwarzkopf's LIVE colours I fell in love with the 'Steel Silver' shade. So of course, I headed to my latest Superdrug to pick it up (make sure you check the contents before you purchase because the first box I picked up only contained the instructions - luckily I checked before I bought the product).

Fancy eating out at Zizzi for a great discount? If you're a student look no further as this spring UNiDAYS are giving students up to 30% off at Zizzi. For those of you who haven't heard of UNiDAYS (which I'm pretty sure you will have done), its the most simple and easy way to get student discount - and best of all it's free. All you need to do is sign up via their website or download their app using your student email and thats it - there's no catch. For up to 30% of Zizzi log in/sign up at UNiDAYS here.

Zizzi kindly sent me a £50.00 gift card to taste their new spring menu, which was so lovely seen as though I don't usually go out for dinner while at university. I'd never been to Zizzi before I visited so I was excited to try somewhere I'd not eaten before.

My Week in Instagram Photos | Skiing in Flaine

So I'm currently sat typing away in Flaine, France. I've been lucky enough to escape the stress of uni for a week and ski to my hearts content around the Haute Savoie region of the French Alps. Not the mention, the hotel has two swimming pools, a sauna, steam room and a gym. Who wouldn't want such a therapeutic break right?

I've spammed a little out of my Instagram, and I've seen this posts flying around blogger recently so I thought I'd share my gram pics on here just incase you haven't already seen them enough...

Spring Wish List | Featuring StyleWe AD

Spring wishlist!

I've put together a small spring wish list as its coming up to Easter time, only meaning one thing - more pastels and pinks. Student life is getting to me way too much, and instead of doing anything about the financial situation, I'll just sit and lust over things instead - and study of course, I've got way too many deadlines. Not to mention, I'm going to France on Saturday so I really need to up my game as I'm missing a week of uni.

I'm still obsessed with pastel pink, which has so much to do with how light my hair is at the moment - I just think blonde hair goes so well with baby pink. Everything seems to be catching my eye right now, and it is probably the worst time as uni is nearly over my bank balance is broken. However, who said I can't window shop?

A Morning with House of Fraser and Charlotte Tilbury

Last Wednesday I was invited to spend the morning with House of Fraser in Meadowhall for a 'Tilbury Transformation' with one of Charlotte Tilbury's lead makeup artists. It was such a lovely morning and an amazing opportunity to be able to have my makeup done by Kelly Mitchell who's been in the makeup artistry industry for years with a lot of experience. After never using any Charlotte Tilbury products before, I've found a new love - although I don't think my bank balance will be best pleased.

Breakfast at Bills

I thought I'd write a foodie post today, well I say foodie - I'm not expert I'll leave that to my friends. But, I wanted to share my photos from my recent visit to Bills in Sheffield last Saturday as it was just far too 'instagrammable' to not. I tend to stick to my favourite restaurants and cafe's to eat hence why this was my first time at Bills, but I think I've found one of my new favourite places to eat.

Being Blonde | Let's Talk Toners

I've been 'blonde' for over two years now, so I've had my fair share of trialling about every single blonde toner on the market. If you have highlights, or blonde hair you'll know the struggles of removing brassy tones and keeping your hair fresh and ashy. Brassy tones have always been a problem with me when bleaching my hair, as I'm naturally a brunette and have had red dye in my hair from my younger years.

A little bit of history - I started getting highlights about two years ago and have continued to do so up until a few weeks ago when I decided to just bleach the whole lot. Every time I've had my highlights touched up and re-done I've always had brassy tones and had to use toners, after about a week of using toning products my hair resumes to the usual ash blonde highlight look until I need to start again when my roots have grown out. I've tested so many different toners over the years, some I've been highly impressed with and will continue to use, and others less so. After bleaching my hair all over, my range of toning products were most definitely put to the test, but after really persevering it payed off - even if it is a difficulty to maintain sometimes.

I'm going to write a post all about how I bleach and dye my hair so look out for that soon, but for now let's discuss my favourite picks for neutralising those brassy tones...

2017 | Turning Pain into Power

Taking what seems like the longest break from blogging has made me re-evaluate so much, and at some part I did fall out of love with blogging. I've debated writing an honest post for months now - but come to the point that I need to make positivity out of the things that are hardest in life.

I've never been into new years resolutions, but turning 20 has made me realise you can't stay stuck in the same thoughts forever (as hard and horrible as it can be). Its completely ok to not be ok - wise words of Jessie J - but, there comes a point when you have to at least try and move on from hurtful memories.

I wouldn't be able to summarise all the ways that I do this, but somehow I manage it. No one is perfect, everyone has down days but these are ways in which I'm able to put things into a little bit of perspective.
